Jeroen van Vliet has won the Buma Boy Edgar Prijs 2014, the Netherlands’ most prestigious and honourable jazz award. The laudatory jury, chaired by Frank Bolder, called Van Vliet “humble”, “pure”, but at the same time “versatile” and with a “strong personality”. A masterly piano player with a big fantasy and courage to experiment, whose characteristic own language and open mind make him sound convincing in different genres. According to the jury Jeroen van Vliet is “one of the few poets of the Dutch improvised music, who is never tempted to compose in unnecessary complicated forms, but always remains faithful to a beautiful sound.”

On september 5, 6 and 7 2014 the new Zeelandsuite 2014 was performed on 6 locations within the province of Zeeland. The music, written by Jeroen van Vliet, is groovy and catchy. Here’s a review from jazzenzo

Release cd’s OGU and Wait

In januari of 2014 Jeroen van Vliet launched two albums. His second solo-album, Wait, recorded at the Rainbow Studio in Oslo, is a reflective album of strong imagery.

The adventurous music of trio OGU, with Bram Stadhouders (guitar, laptop), and Etienne Nillesen (percussion), is from another world, dreamlike, ambient.

Both albums are covered in a beuatiful painting by Dutch visual artist Robert Zandvliet.
